When launching FSX 2020, you may see one of these errors:
These errors usually mean FSX couldn’t validate your license
because it couldn’t reach our servers or there’s a configuration issue.
What to Check First
Internet
connection
Make sure your PC has working internet before launching FSX
2020. The app must contact Foresight’s server at startup.
Check
for network blocking
If you do have internet but still get the error, your ISP or network might
be filtering or blocking communication to our servers. Comcast/Xfinity is
a frequent culprit.
Credentials
& license validity
For the “Unexpected Error” version, verify that your username/password is
correct and that the license key you entered is valid for FSX 2020. Also
check that the license isn’t tied up with another installation (e.g. FSX
Pro iOS).
Deactivate
and re-validate the license
If the above checks don’t help, release or deactivate your FSX 2020
license in your FSX Live account online (
https://fsxlive.foresightsports.com/
>> My Account >> Licenses Tab) and then reapply it to the PC
you’re using.
FAQs
Q: Why does FSX work if I lose internet after launching?
Once FSX reaches the main menu, it doesn’t need constant connectivity. The
critical point is the initial server check at startup.
Q: How do I know it’s not just a corrupt install or
license file?
If other customers with the same license are working and your credentials are
correct, network blocking is the more likely villain.
Q: What should I ask my ISP or support if it’s blocked?
Ask if traffic to Foresight’s license server domain is being blocked or
filtered. For Comcast/Xfinity, we have specific guides to allow it.
Q: Will reinstalling FSX fix this?
It might if your install is corrupted, but usually license validation failures
stem from network or credential issues. Try the checks above first.
