FR1

FR1

The Foresight FR1 Software is a legacy golf simulation and fitting software developed by Foresight Sports, primarily designed to work with their GC2 launch monitor. Here's an overview of its key features and purpose:

Core Features of FR1 Software

  • Golf Simulation: Allows users to play or practice on virtual golf courses. It includes a Foresight Range and the Warwickshire Brabazon by default, which is faithfully reproduced for realistic gameplay.
  • Driving Range Mode: Offers a practice range environment for honing shots and analysing performance.
  • Fitting Mode: Designed for club fitters, this mode provides:
  • Shot shape analysis
  • Club performance comparisons
  • Gap testing for distance consistency
  • Multiplayer Gameplay: Supports multiple players for simulated rounds.
  • In-Game Hot Keys: Allows quick access to various functions during gameplay.

System & Installation Notes

  • Requires a green USB dongle for activation, which acts as a hardware-encrypted key
  • Installation includes components like the GC2 driverDirectX, and Adobe Reader.
  • Simulator Setup Tool is used to calibrate the hitting environment for accurate simulation

Legacy Status

FR1 is considered legacy software, meaning it's older and has largely been replaced by newer platforms like FSX 2020 and FSX Play, which offer more advanced graphics and features. However, FR1 remains popular among users with older GC2 units who want a cost-effective solution for basic simulation and fitting. FR1 only has one download link, this can be used for troubleshooting purposes or reinstallation purposes:

Tips for optimising your computer system

  • Ensure that the computer/laptop is set on the High Performance Power setting in the control panel.
  • Right click on the desktop and select Graphics properties – Ensure that the intel 3D settings are on Performance.
  • Right click on the desktop and select the Dedicated graphics properties (AMD / NVIDIA depending on your computer) – ensure that the application is set within the dedicated 3D application settings and that the dedicated graphics card is set on high power within the global and power settings.

Tips for setting up FR1

  • Go into the Options menu (Password - fss01011)
  • Go into Game options – select “wait for spin”, “bypass options password”, and “2 sec.”. You can also select metric measurements and change the language if you wish (If you would like a language pack please inquire and we can send you a download link for the add on).
  • Go into the Screen Settings – Select “full screen” mode, and select the resolution that is correct for your simulator setup.
  • Go into the Graphics options – select Minimum, Balanced or High performance depending on the specification of your computer. (If the ball flight becomes “jerky”, the mini map is black or you notice any other graphical anomaly’s then you may have set these settings too high for your computers capabilities).

FR1 is no longer supported and the course activation is no longer possible. If you are moving computers, you can save your existing course files onto a USB drive and paste them into the same folder on the new computer, however, lost courses cannot be recovered.
