GC2 Missing Shots (Not Collecting Ball Data)
The GC2 can miss shots for a variety of reasons. We have listed some of the more common reasons below for you to review and see if they help:
Environmental and Hardware Checks
- Please perform a hard reset (holding down the Power button whilst the unit is turned on, until the unit switches off then release). This resets the device fully so it can function better once powered on again.
- Check to see if the foot stand is fully deployed underneath the launch monitor and that the unit is fully opened up.
- If you use a protective shield with the GC2, make sure that it lines up properly with the cameras so they are not obscured (perhaps try a few shots without the shield to see if you still experience the same issue).
- It is advisable to clean the lenses periodically to ensure that no dust or dirt is blocking the view of the cameras which could potentially lead to missed shots. We advise using a compressed air canister/ lens cleaning wipe / or some other form of microfibre cloth.
- Make sure to test the unit whilst plugged into a working power supply unit - so that the device has adequate power to function.
- Try using the GC2 standalone (without being connected to a computer of mobile app). This will show if the unit can record data without being connected to any software. If data is collected, the issue is related to the connection between the GC2 and the device the software is installed on.
- Further to this, are you having the same issue in different environments if you take shots in a simulator or at a driving range for instance?
- Ensure there isn't a mirror or highly reflective surface opposite the launch monitor - sometimes shoes with highly reflective strips or a shiny polished finish for instance, can interfere with the cameras. Sometimes if you have a secondary launch monitor permanently in place in the left handed hitting position for example (if the device in question is in your right handed hitting position) - if these devices are too close together, they can sometimes interfere with each other's operation.
It would be worth sending in a few photos of your environment to help build up a picture of what the GC2 cameras can see, such as:
- A photo showing just your full hitting mat.
- A few photos of the whole simulator, at least one looking inwards at the impact screen to show as much of it and the surrounds as possible, one stood with your back to the impact screen looking outwards, etc.
- A photo taken behind the GC2, showing a view of what it looks out onto.
- Are shots being taken from near enough to the centre of the hitting area of the GC2? Shots taken on the extreme edges of the area could potentially mean the GC2 does not have line of sight on the ball for a sufficient time for the GC2 to gather all the measurements it needs in the time allowed.
- Are you using a patterned or coloured ball at all? Could you send a picture of the standard ball you use?
- Ensure that the GC2 is on the same level as the hitting surface i.e: not below a hitting mat or some such where its line of sight of the ball could be obscured as shown below:

- I would recommend that the Firmware on the GC2 has been updated to the latest version
- Generally, if your GC2 is displaying DASHED READINGS (----- in place of numbers) the device is working but the flash needs to be replaced. If the device does not recognise the ball (it won't lock on when it is in the hitting area after following all the steps above) it will need to be returned to our Service Centre for further investigation.
- Please perform a hard reset on the unit, this time whilst inspecting the Flash Module.
You can carry out a hard reset on the GC2 (by holding down the power button while the unit is on, until all displays / messages / lights disappear). Does the Flash Module illuminate? Is there a clicking noise? Let us know how the GC2 behaves from the following list of potential options:
Hard Reset - Potential results and explanation:
- Flash - If the GC2 does flash during the hard reset, it will show that the Flash Module and Flashboard are still functioning, however, the Flash may need to be replaced soon.
- No flash, clicking noise - If the GC2 doesn't flash but does make a faint clicking noise while performing the hard reset, then the internal Flashboard is working but the Flash Module needs to be replaced.
- No flash or clicking - If you cannot see a flash from the launch monitor, or hear a clicking noise when performing a hard reset, we would recommend sending the unit back to our Service Centre for diagnosis.
